Two applications

Two applications, one calculation engine.

Rooftop is for roof-mounted projects, Ground-Mounted for utility and land projects. The shading model, loss chain and reporting layer are shared, so both return the same energy yield for the same module and inverter.

Rooftop plants

Rooftop layout.

You pick the roof type — flat, mono-pitch, gable, hip, pyramid or sawtooth. You enter the ridge and eave lines, the parapet height and the position of chimneys and HVAC units, and you set the setback distance.

The program treats these as three-dimensional obstacles and places modules across the remaining area. You never type a module count — the layout determines it.

The output is a dimensioned layout plan, a DXF package and a 3D KMZ. The file you attach to the proposal is the same file the installation crew works from.

Layout, shading, yield, quantities and financials are all bound to the same drawing. Change anything and every report is regenerated.

1 · Every roof type

Flat, mono-pitch, gable, hip, pyramid and sawtooth. Parapets, chimneys, HVAC units and lift overruns are defined as three-dimensional obstacles, and their shadows enter the calculation.

2 · Terrain analysis

Slope, aspect, contours, flow-accumulation lines, peak and ridge detection. Where the slope threshold is exceeded the program skips the layout or splits the table.

3 · Shading analysis

Near shading is computed by ray tracing. Shading loss is reported per module, as a daily profile and as an annual total.

4 · Energy simulation

An 8,760-hour calculation driven by PVGIS and NREL SAM data. The loss chain, cell-temperature correction and shading losses are all included. Results are reported as P50 and P90.

5 · Quantities and feasibility

A bill of materials by category, derived from DC capacity: modules, mounting structure, DC side, AC side, transformer and MV, earthing, monitoring, site works and labour. You save your own unit prices and they become the default on the next project. From the resulting capital cost the program computes payback period, net present value, internal rate of return, levelised cost of energy and a 25-year cash flow.

DXF files open in AutoCAD and BricsCAD with the layer structure intact. With the 3D KMZ you can show a client their own roof in Google Earth, with the real layout on it.

Ground-mounted plants

Ground-mounted layout.

You draw the site boundary on the map or import it from KML/KMZ, DXF or CSV. From the digital elevation model the program derives slope, aspect, contours and flow-accumulation lines.

The table rows follow that surface. Where the slope threshold is exceeded the program skips the layout or splits the table — and you set the threshold.

The output is a setting-out plan (DXF), a table-corner coordinate schedule and a site KMZ. The installed capacity used in the financial model and the table count in the coordinate schedule come from the same calculation.

Frequently asked questions

Questions people ask before buying.

How can I decide without seeing the product?

The application is licensed: opening it requires an account, a verified email and phone number, and an active plan. Before you decide we run a live session on your own project — we open your roof or your site together and you see the layout, the shading analysis and the outputs on your own work. To request one, info@solarsimpro.com.

Do I need to install anything? What will it run on?

Nothing to install. A current browser is enough, and there is no difference between Windows, macOS and Linux. No dongle, no annual reinstallation, no IT approval. Your projects stay in your account and follow you to any other computer you sign in from.

Can I switch from monthly to annual? What happens if I cancel?

You can move to annual mid-term, and paying annually is worth two months free. On a monthly plan, leaving at the end of a period simply means the subscription does not renew. When a licence ends your designs are not deleted — only licensed output generation stops.

How do invoicing and VAT work?

Prices are per user and exclude VAT. We issue company invoices. Multi-user and enterprise licences are priced separately.

Do updates cost extra?

Every version update is included for the life of the licence. Because both applications share the same calculation core, an improvement in one shows up in the other.

What consumption data does the financial model use?

You can enter consumption hourly, monthly or annually. If you have hourly meter data it is used directly. If you enter an annual or monthly figure you choose a consumption regime — office hours, one/two/three shifts, residential, irrigation, cold storage, hotel, or a custom 24-hour profile you type in — and the total is distributed across 8,760 hours along that curve. You then choose hourly or monthly netting; the report shows both, because monthly netting usually gives the better result for the same plant.

How is the bill of materials produced, and where do prices come from?

The list is generated by category from DC capacity, module count, inverters and table count; the quantity and unit price on every line can be edited by hand. You save your own prices to the database and they become the default on later projects. The catalogue can be exported as JSON and shared with your team, and the list downloaded as CSV.

Where is my data stored?

Projects are stored on the server against your account, travel over an encrypted connection and are accessible only to you. The benefit is that your projects follow you when you change computers. On the account side we hold identity, licence and invoicing data. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

What happens to my projects if I change computers?

Projects are saved to your account, not to the browser. Sign in with the same account on another computer and your saved projects are still in the list, ready to open where you left off. Once you name and save a project it is updated automatically at intervals while you work. The limits are 200 projects per account and 900 KB per project. Clearing browser data does not delete saved projects — it only resets local preferences such as “last opened project”.
